Afrinet Carbon is a Kenya-based climate solutions company focused on scalable Carbon Dioxide Removal (CDR) through nature-aligned technologies, beginning with biochar production from agricultural waste—specifically, sugarcane bagasse.

Our mission is to harness Africa’s natural and industrial systems to create high-integrity carbon credits, while restoring soils, generating clean energy co-benefits, and supporting local communities.

Our Flagship Solution: Bagasse-to-Biochar CDR

Every year, millions of tons of sugarcane bagasse are discarded or burned across East Africa. Afrinet Carbon captures this untapped resource by converting bagasse into biochar through controlled pyrolysis. This process:

• Permanently stores atmospheric CO₂ in a stable solid form (carbon negative)
• Enhances soil fertility and water retention for farmers
• Replaces unsustainable biomass use in rural energy systems
• Generates high-integrity carbon removal credits under CDR-aligned methodologies

Our Model:

• We partner with sugar mills, agro-processors, and farmer cooperatives
• Biochar is produced at central hubs and distributed to farms or sold as an input
• Every tonne of biochar locks away ~2.5–3.0 tonnes of CO₂e
• Our monitoring and verification systems are built to align with Puro.Earth, Verra biochar methodology, and the ICVCM Core Carbon Principles

Our Impact:

• Target: 50,000 tonnes of CO₂e removed in the next 24 months
• Soil improvement across 10,000+ acres of smallholder farmland
• New revenue stream for sugar processors and agro-waste aggregators
